4 Hours of Spa Endurance : Many riders, a bunch of favourites …
On Saturday the 12th of July at exactly 20h00, the hearts of 70 riders will beat as never before.
Lined up between the Source and the Eau Rouge in front of their machines from before 1980, they will await the start of the 4 Hours of Spa Endurance, one of the highlights of the 8th edition of the Bikers’Classics!
More than two months ago, the entrance list was already complete which shows the interest that goes out to this 4-hour-race. A remake of the races as they used to be held in the old days at the track of Spa-Francorchamps. It’ll be a harsh battle as the list of participants features some great names from the endurance world.
To begin with the duo Stéphane Mertens – Didier de Radiguès! The world champion in this category and one of the best Belgian riders ever have never shared a bike before. They’ll arrive at the start with a Dholda, a machine built by the legendary Jean D’Hollander, the wizard of Moerzeke.
But they’ll have to deal with Richard Hubin, who will share a bike with Patrick Chavagne and is out for revenge as he missed out on the title in 2009. Last year’s winners Charles-Artigues/ Sleurs will defend their title aboard a mighty Moto Guzzi. Just like the Italians Sardi/Zaccarelli who recently finished 4th at the Bol d’Or Classic.
Furthermore there’s also Roger Ruiz – accompanied by his countryman Chris Cremer – Patrick Orban, the Dutchman Henk Van der Mark, Freddy Tacheny, Christian Haquin and Gilles Hampe.
Many favourites and also a long list of outsiders. It’s impossible to predict who will pass that chequered flag first. What we can say for sure is that there’ll be lots of spectacle, on track as well as during the pit stops.
