A successful first day
The first day of the Bikers’ Classics start in ideal circumstances, under a clear blue sky.
As from 9 o’clock, the 600 participants one by one take in the track of Francorchamps , with the exception of the world champions, who will arrive on on Saturday.
After the series for the amateurs, all attention goes to the first test sessions of the 4 Hours of Spa Classic. These bring along the first mechanical problems for some teams. Problems that can be handled it seems, even though for some it even means mounting an entire new engine. The participants don’t take this race lightly, that’s for sure, some have brought a remarkable amount of material with them. It’s a fact that these machines are old : the regulations say that they have to be built between 1949 and 1980 in order to be able to participate. Generally, the motorcycles are well kept, and they are quite powerful. The performances of the riders are mainly limited due to the frames, the suspensions and the brakes.
At the start of the evening sessions, it’s the team Moto’ Bel who takes the pole on the grid in a true ‘Le Mans’-style start. The start for the first round of 2h30 will be given on Saturday at 19h30, it will be the apotheosis of the second day of the Bikers’ Classics, where you’ll be able to see the great champions from the past at work.
