Bikers’ Classics 2010: Spotlights on the sidecars.

Every committed bike racing fan remembers their names: Rolf Biland, Steve Webster, Egbert Streuer, Alain Michel, Max Deubel, Klaus Enders and Rolf Steinhausen.

These illustrious sidecar icons wrote unforgettable chapters in the racing history books and this year they will reunite at the famous Spa-Francorchamps circuit during the annual Bikers’ Classics from 11th until 13th of June. The organization of Europe’s biggest classic race event will put the spotlights on these legends deserve during a spectacular Sidecar GP Revival.

This reunion of three wheel acrobats will not only offer themselves a time to reminisce, but it will also provide the thousands of fans that annually travel to the Belgian Ardennes a not to miss opportunity to meet their idols of times gone by.

The list of former racers goes on and on. Britain’s Steve Webster MBE, Swiss phenomenon Rolf Biland, Dutch Egbert Streuer and French Alain Michel will be joined by ex champions like Steve Abbott, Darren Dixon, Bruno Holzer and Isle of Man regular Klaus Klaffenböck. Derek “Crazy Horse” Jones, Japanese Masato Kumano and Ralf Bohnhorst will also join this very special sidecar party. Some sixty sidecars will take to the circuit twice on Saturday and Sunday. As usual fans will get the chance to have a closer look at the riders and their machines in the paddock.
However, not only the riders and their passengers will be put in the spotlights as legendary sidecar geniuses like Dieter Busch, Louis Christen (LCR) and Charly Auf der Maur (ADM) will also be present.

But of course this year’s Bikers’ Classics is not a three wheel only affair. Fifteen time world champion Giacomo Agostini is a regular at Spa, whereas Phil Read, Jim Redman and Ralph Bryans will also turn to the track again. The organization is also hoping to sign John Surtees, Ron Haslam, German Toni Mang, Carlos Lavado from Venezuela, former MV Agusta ace Gianfranco Bonera and the flamboyant Marco Lucchinelli.

Apart from the parades of all time greats there will be a prestigious 4 Hours of Spa Classics Endurance race with former GP winner Didier de Radiguès, Superbike legend Stéphane Mertens and World Endurance champ Richard Hubin to mention a few.

As always, the Bikers’ Classics promises racing action, breathtaking bikes, music to the ears and moving encounters between old friends and their fans. And, as always, the 2010 Bikers’ Classics should not be missed!
