Hearts and tribunes filled with sun last weekend in Spa-Francorchamps at the occasion of the 9th edition of the Bikers’ Classics. The event once again succeeded in gathering many great names from the world of road race.
«It’s for the first time in a long time that I’ve ridden a bike on this legendary track and I had lots of fun », Johnny explains us with a big smile on his face. Christian Sarron and Phil Read share the enthusiasm of the Venezuelan champion.
«It has been so much fun to come back here and enjoy myself with the other riders on those magnificent machines from the past », says the Frenchman.

«Each year, the Bikers’Classics are marked with priority in my agenda », the Englishman confides us. «Here you have a passionate crowd and they know their classics. I just love that! »

Besides the demonstrations of the champions on their amazing classic bikes, the spectators could also visit a wonderful exhibition that was set up in honour of Yamaha’s 50 years in competition and there was also a tribute to the 90 years of Moto Guzzi. In a tent, some of the most prestigious sidecars were exhibited, before hitting the 7km long track of Francorchamps. Here also an amazing poster, with Steve Webster and Paul Woodhead, tenfold world champions on their LCR Yamaha and Rolf Steinhausen and Gries Torsten (König RSI), champions in ‘75 and ‘76.

On Saturday Night, the group High Voltage, a cover band bringing numbers of AC/CD, gave the best of themselves in the paddock, after the participants of the 4 Hours Classics had finished their race …

« We already have some ideas for the 10th anniversary, says organiser Christian Jupsin. We hope to welcome the first stars of Superbike and plan to organise something in honour of Ducati. »

More than 40.000 visitors came to the track of Spa-Francorchamps last weekend and we’re convinced that there will be even more on the 29th, 30 of June and 1st of July 2012.
