Bikers’ Classics : already many participants

Although there are still some weeks left until the seventh edition of the Bikers’ Classics, there are already a lot of names on the entry list.

And not just anybody! As usual, a lot of world champions have agreed to participate at this marvellous event that takes place on the track of Spa-Francorchamps from the 19th until the 21st of June. At the starting grid of the GP1 we’ll see legendary riders such as Agostini, Cadalora, Ballington, Hartog, Bonera, Mamola, Van Dulmen, Grant, Richard Hubin, to name just a few amongst the many. Undoubtedly this list will feature even more celebrities; at this very moment, the organizers are still negotiating with Alex Barros, Yvon Duhamel and Steve Parrish. Riders who will show up on their equally famous machines, to which they owe their titles.

Many of them will also appear at the GP2 and GP3 starting grids, where they will shine alongside some other famous guys such as John Surtees, Chas Mortimer, Carlos Lavado, Eric Saul, Jan de Vries and of course Luigi Taveri. The career of this Swiss rider will be placed in the spotlights, with a special attention to his three world titles. Taveri won’t come empty handed, he’ll bring his very own collection with him. An impressive series of machines featuring the Norton Manx (1955), the MV Agusta, Ducati and MZ 125cc and of course also the Honda 125 cc with four and five cylinders, with which he earned his titles.

This would already be a nice programme, but it doesn’t end here, there’s also « The return of the 750’s ». In that category, where the Yamaha TZ 750’s will be omnipresent, you will also be able to savour some exceptional bikes such as the John Player Special Norton, Honda Daytona, Suzuki and Triumph 3 cylinders. The entry list will be longer than for the championship itself 30 years ago! These men have already confirmed their presence: Christian Sarron, Kel Carruthers, Steve Baker, Phil Read, Hubert Rigal, Philippe Coulon and Paul Smart. But, negotiations are still ongoing with other champions, more precisely Bourgeois, Estrosi, Gary Nixon, Bernard Fau and Kenny Roberts. We sincerely hope they will complete the list and show up aside Belgian favourites Jean-Philippe Orban, Etienne Geeraerts and Hervé Regout.

In short, only good folks (and beautiful machines) at the track of Spa-Francorchamps on 19, 20 and 21 June.
