Loads of spectators at Bikers' Classics, despite the rain

There were loads of visitors at the Bikers’ Classics at the track of Spa-Francorchamps, coming from Germany, Holland, France and Belgium.

And they got what they paid for, and more, because there was lots to do in the crowded paddocks. There was the magnificent exposition in honour of the Swiss man Luigi Taveri, but besides that, everywhere you looked, you could see some machine or some rider from the old days of motor sports.

Almost 600 participants showed their classics, often looking “like new”, after which they proved over several series what these machines are still capable of.

The cherry on top of the cake was without any doubt the fifteen world champions, starting with Giacomo Agostini himself, who mingled among the many spectators and didn’t mind one bit handing out signatures, shaking hands and chit chatting with the fans, bringing up thousands of memories. Champions still as passionate as back then who, despite the enormous storm that broke out, paraded their machines without bothering one bit about the tons of rain that came down. They even surprised many spectators with their lap times on a soaking wet track, still faster than many of the young riders present.

The Bikers' Classics 2009 were a success and as if that wasn’t enough yet, it was the perfect occasion to organise another endurance race, with the 4 Hours of Spa Classic. A race of two rounds, destined for bikes built before 1980. The victory was for the Frenchmen Charles-Artigues/Sleurs and their Moto Guzzi Le Mans.
