The Bikers’ Classics enjoys glorious sunshine

They came from every corner of Europe and even from far away places like New Zealand and the United States – like Hugh Anderson and Steve Baker – and all the former world champions enjoyed a day in wonderful sunshine at Francorchamps.

Conditions were close to perfect – and that was not always the case when they raced here in earlier times. But this weekend at the 8th edition of the Bikers’ Classics Giacomo Agostini, Phil Read, Jim Redman, Pierpaolo Bianchi, Marco Lucchinelli and all their former colleagues can look forward to enjoying the circuit in the sun.

On Friday the amateurs on their old bikes took to the track. More than 600 riders benefitted from the excellent weather conditions and re-discovered the glory of the Ardennes jewel at the handle bars of their beloved and restored bikes.

As of Saturday they will share the track with their idols before at the end of the day the start of the 4 Hours Spa Classic will take place. This event will begin with a traditional and spectacular Le Mans start before the magnitude of teams will go for the first corner together.

In this exciting competition we can expect a renewed battle between former world champions and 24 Hours of Liège winners Richard Hubin and Stéphane Mertens. Mertens will be accompanied by Didier de Radigués, who was also victorious in the legendary Liége race himself.
