Tommy Robb withdraws from Bikers' Classics
A very disappointed Tommy Robb has had to withdraw from this year's Bikers' Classics.
For the first time in twelve years Robb would have been riding at a big classic race meeting on the European continent. Health issues have put an end to his intentions. The Irishman has suffered from ostheoarthritis for more than a decade which has been causing severe pains and limiting Robb's movements in the process. His health problems have made the 75 year old decide to withdraw from the event in Francorchamps, an event to which he had been looking forward to for months. “Even on painkillers it is impossible for me to drive or ride any vehicle”, says an extremely disappointed Robb. The three time GP winner had been looking forward to riding a 125 Yamaha from the YCRT and also to meeting up with former team-mate Jim Redman as well as his old friend Sammy Miller. “It is obvious that this is going to be a long term problem”, fears Robb. “That is why I have to withdraw, also because I would not like to be the cause of any mishap which may involve another rider. I think this probably alerts the end of my parading career and I shall forever remain disappointed that I never did make the Bikers' Classics event 2010, which had made me really excited.. I am very sorry to disappoint the organization and the fans I may still have out there.”
